Isn’t it great to get a little good news? I’m sure the stories that we’re going to hear from Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight about their 10 years in captivity are going to be disturbing, but what a relief for their families that they are now free.

The news of their safe recovery broke while I was flying back from New Orleans yesterday and then today I had to fly to Las Vegas for business so I’m just now catching up on their stories and the amazing character, Charles Ramsey, who helped Berry break out of her captor’s home. Police then came and rescued DeJesus and Knight.

In a nice bit of synchronicity, the three young women found freedom a day before Jaycee Dugard, who was abducted for 18 years, was honored tonight at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s 2013 Hope Awards.

On the NCMEC’s home page, CEO John Ryan has posted a letter about how stories like Dugard’s recovery, as well as these three women, and several other examples, shows why we can never stop searching for missing children.
